Cheapest Ink for the HP DeskJet 2755e (2026): Every Option Priced Per Page
Last Updated:Last updated: October 28, 2026.
Quick answer: The cheapest ink for the HP DeskJet 2755e, per page, is a remanufactured HP 67XXL black. Our remanufactured HP 67XXL black is $34.95 for about 400 pages, or 8.7 cents a page. Genuine HP 67XL black is $35.89 for 240 pages at Staples, which is 15.0 cents a page, so the XXL cuts your cost per page by about 42% for roughly the same money up front. If you only care about the sticker price, LD Products sells a remanufactured 67XL for $18.99 and beats us on that cartridge. The caveat that decides everything: the 2755e is an HP+ printer, and if HP+ was switched on at setup, it will only ever accept Original HP ink.
We'll say the obvious thing up front: we sell these cartridges, so treat our pick as a seller's opinion and check the numbers. We have put HP's prices, ours and those at LD Products, 4inkjets, Staples, CompAndSave and an Amazon marketplace brand in one table, with HP Instant Ink against all of them. Where someone undercuts us, we say so.
The 2755e itself has been discontinued by HP. hp.com lists it as no longer sold, and Quill, Adorama and Walmart show it unavailable. That does not matter much for ink: it was the default cheap home printer for years, the HP 67 line is still in full production, and the current DeskJet 2855e uses the same cartridges.
HP+ warning: The "e" in 2755e means HP offered HP+ enrolment when you set the printer up. HP's HP+ FAQ says an activated printer "will require the use of Original HP Ink for the lifetime of the printer," and HP documents no way to undo it. Check the HP+ status in the printer's settings or the HP Smart app before buying anything on this page that is not genuine HP.

What ink does the HP DeskJet 2755e use?
The 2755e takes two cartridges: one HP 67 black and one HP 67 tri-color. Each comes in a standard fill and an XL fill, and the black also exists as a 67XXL that HP sells in Australia but not in US retail. The printhead is built into the cartridge, which is why every third-party option worth buying is remanufactured rather than newly made.

Two things stand out. First, LD Products, 4inkjets and CompAndSave all sell a remanufactured 67XL black for about $19, $14 less than ours. We are not the cheapest 67XL. Second, nobody else in the table sells a 400-page XXL, and the XXL is what changes the per-page math. We also disclose the chip version on every product page, ship same day from Greenlawn, NY on orders placed by 4 PM ET Monday through Friday, answer the phone in the US, and replace or refund any cartridge that arrives defective, with a full year to return it.
Our pick: remanufactured HP 67XXL black
For a home printer that mostly prints school forms, shipping labels and the occasional recipe, the remanufactured HP 67XXL black is the cartridge we would put in a 2755e. It costs $34.95, holds about 400 pages, and works out to 8.7 cents a page. That is less than genuine HP 67XL (15.0 cents), less than our own 67XL (13.7 cents) and less than HP's 50-page Instant Ink plan (12 cents). It is a remanufactured cartridge: a genuine HP shell with HP's original chip and printhead, cleaned, refilled and tested.
The trade-off is that a 240-page remanufactured 67XL from LD or CompAndSave at $18.99 is cheaper per page still, at 7.9 cents. If you want the smallest outlay, buy that. Our argument for the XXL is fewer cartridge swaps, fewer alignment pages, and a return window that runs a full year.
Other Castle Ink HP 67 cartridges: Remanufactured HP 67XL Black ($32.95, 240 pages), Remanufactured HP 67XL Tri-Color ($34.95, 200 pages) and the 67XL Black + Tri-Color 2-pack ($59.95, 440 pages).
HP+ and dynamic security on the DeskJet 2755e
There are two separate gates on this printer, and owners often confuse them. HP+ is the big one. It is optional at setup, it came bundled with three months of Instant Ink (six on some retail bundles), and once activated it locks the printer to Original HP cartridges for life, genuine HP chip or not.
Dynamic security is the second gate, and it is the one that does not matter here. HP's policy blocks cartridges with non-HP chips, but HP's own support forum confirms that cartridges using "new or reused HP chips" are unaffected (HP support forum). Because HP 67 has an integrated printhead, remanufacturers keep the original chip. What owners do hit is a "used cartridge" or "cartridge problem" message once the printer has logged that chip as empty; HP's moderators say there is no user-accessible way to turn this off (HP forum, 2024). Factory remanufacturers handle this; it is mostly a home-refill problem. Also ignore marketplace listings advertising 700 pages from a 67XL. HP rates it at 240, and refilling does not change the size of the tank.
What does ink for the HP DeskJet 2755e cost per year?
The table assumes 50 pages a month, 600 pages a year, mostly black text. Color use adds roughly 18 cents a page with genuine 67XL tri-color. Every non-HP row assumes HP+ was not activated.
| Option | Yearly cost at 50 pages/month |
|---|---|
| Genuine HP 67 black (standard) | $114.45 |
| Genuine HP 67XL black | $89.73 |
| Castle Ink remanufactured 67XL black | $82.38 |
| HP Instant Ink, 50-page monthly plan | $71.88 |
| Castle Ink remanufactured 67XXL black | $52.43 |
Instant Ink verdict: At 50 pages a month, the $5.99 plan costs $71.88 a year, about 12 cents a page, and that includes color. It beats genuine HP 67XL by about $18 a year, so if your printer is already HP+ locked, Instant Ink is probably your cheapest route. If HP+ is off, a remanufactured XXL beats Instant Ink by about $20 a year, and you own the cartridge; Instant Ink cartridges stop working the month you cancel. HP's current plan tiers are on the Instant Ink plans page, and we work through the subscription math in more detail in HP Instant Ink vs compatible cartridges.
How to choose an HP 67 cartridge for the 2755e
- Check HP+ first. If it was activated at setup, only Original HP 67 cartridges will work, and the rest of this list does not apply.
- Skip the standard-yield 67 black. At about 19 cents a page it is the most expensive way to print, and the XL and XXL fit the same slot.
- Buy remanufactured, not "compatible" or "new build." The printhead lives on the cartridge, and a remanufactured unit keeps HP's original nozzle plate and chip.
- Treat yield claims above 240 (XL black) or 200 (XL tri-color) as marketing. HP's numbers come from ISO testing.
- Run the alignment page after every swap. Each new cartridge brings a new printhead that needs lining up.
- If you print mostly black, buy the XXL alone and let the tri-color sit; the printer will warn about low color, but it will still print text.
HP DeskJet 2755e Ink FAQs
What is the cheapest ink for the HP DeskJet 2755e?
Per page, a remanufactured HP 67XXL black (Castle Ink, $34.95 for about 400 pages, around 8.7 cents a page) is the cheapest cartridge. LD's remanufactured 67XL at $18.99 is the cheapest sticker price. Genuine HP 67XL black runs about 15 cents a page and standard 67 black about 19 cents.
Is HP Instant Ink worth it for a DeskJet 2755e?
At 50 pages a month the $5.99 plan costs $71.88 a year, about 12 cents a page, and includes color. That beats genuine HP 67XL but not a remanufactured XXL, and the cartridges stop working if you cancel.
Can I use remanufactured HP 67 cartridges in a 2755e?
Yes, if you skipped HP+ at setup. HP+ printers are locked to Original HP ink for life, and HP provides no way to turn HP+ or dynamic security off. Remanufactured cartridges that keep HP's original chip are otherwise unaffected by dynamic security.
Is the HP DeskJet 2755e still sold?
HP lists it as discontinued, and Quill, Adorama and Walmart show it unavailable. The DeskJet 2855e is the current equivalent and uses the same HP 67 cartridges. Used 2755e units sell for roughly $50 to $100 on Newegg marketplace and eBay.
The bottom line
If your DeskJet 2755e is not HP+ locked, the cheapest way to keep it printing is the remanufactured HP 67XXL black at $34.95 for about 400 pages, roughly $52 a year at 50 pages a month against $90 for genuine 67XL. If it is HP+ locked, the 50-page Instant Ink plan is the next best thing. And if you want the lowest price on a plain 67XL, LD Products has us beat at $18.99.
