Quick answer: The HP DeskJet 2752e uses HP 67 ink — one black and one tri-color cartridge. The high-yield HP 67XL cartridges (HP 67XL Black and HP 67XL Tri-Color) print about 240 black and 200 color pages, roughly twice as many as standard HP 67.

Limited data: We could not find enough owner ratings or published expert scores for this printer, so those weights are spread across the other pillars. With neither owner ratings nor a published expert score, we cap this printer at 69 (Situational) until better data is available.
Hard to find new. We found it only on eBay in October 2026. HP's current HP 67 DeskJets are the 2800e series, such as the 2855e, which take the same cartridges.

Important — HP+ warning: The "e" in HP DeskJet 2752e means it was sold for HP+. If you activated HP+ during setup, the printer is locked to Original HP cartridges for its lifetime, and compatible or remanufactured cartridges will be rejected with a "cartridge problem" or "non-HP cartridge" message. HP+ cannot be switched off after activation. If you skipped HP+ at setup, cartridges that carry an HP chip still work, including our remanufactured 67XL. Cartridges with a non-HP chip are blocked by HP dynamic security either way, and HP says firmware updates can block cartridges that worked before. See how to keep HP firmware updates from blocking your ink and our HP Instant Ink vs. compatible cartridges breakdown before you buy.
The HP DeskJet 2752e belongs to HP's DeskJet 2700e series. The same HP 67 / 67XL cartridges fit the DeskJet 2700, 2710e, 2720e, 2723e, 2732, 2734e, 2742e, 2752e and 2755e, as well as the ENVY 6000, 6055e and 6400 series.
The DeskJet 2752e is a compact home all-in-one (print, scan, copy) with Wi-Fi, a 60-sheet input tray and manual two-sided printing. It is built to be cheap to buy, so ink is where the running cost adds up.
Do not confuse HP 67 with HP 65 or HP 68. They look similar, but HP 65 (sold since July 2026 as a combined HP 63/65 cartridge) fits the older DeskJet 2600/3700 printers and HP 68 fits the newer ENVY 6100e/6500e printers. Neither fits this printer.
How to Replace Ink in the HP DeskJet 2752e
- Turn the printer on and open the ink cartridge access door (lift the scanner lid and pull the front door down). Wait for the carriage to move to the center and stop.
- Press down lightly on the cartridge you are replacing to release it, then pull it out toward you. The tri-color cartridge sits on the left, black on the right.
- Take the new cartridge out of its packaging and pull off the plastic tape by its pink or orange tab. Do not touch the copper contacts or the ink nozzles.
- Slide the cartridge into its slot at a slight upward angle, nozzles facing the printer, and push it forward until it snaps into place.
- Close the access door. The printer may print an alignment page — scan it if the control panel or HP Smart app asks you to.
Troubleshooting Tips
"Cartridge problem" or "non-HP cartridge detected": Check whether HP+ is active in the HP Smart app. If it is, only Original HP cartridges will work. If it is not, wipe the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth, let them dry, and reseat the cartridge. A cartridge with a non-HP chip will still be refused, because HP dynamic security blocks those whether or not HP+ is on.
Streaks or missing colors: Run "Clean Printheads" from the HP Smart app or the printer's Tools menu. The printhead is built into each cartridge on this printer, so if one cleaning cycle does not fix it, the cartridge itself is the likely culprit.
Low-ink warning on a brand-new printer: The cartridges that ship in the box are lower-yield setup cartridges. That early warning is normal — it is not a fault.
What DeskJet 2752e owners ask
These are the questions that come up most for this printer on retailer Q&A pages, HP's support forum and owner reviews, answered in our words.
Is the XL cartridge worth it over the standard HP 67?
The 67XL roughly doubles the pages (about 240 vs 120 black, 200 vs 100 color). Tom's Guide found the cost-per-page saving fairly modest, so the main gain is changing cartridges half as often.
Can it print on both sides automatically?
No. Two-sided printing is manual: the driver tells you when to flip the stack.
Does it have a document feeder?
No. It has a flatbed scanner only (up to 1200 x 1200 dpi), so multi-page originals go on the glass one at a time.
Can I connect it with a USB cable, or is it wireless-only?
It has both. HP lists a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port alongside Wi-Fi, although at least one Best Buy reviewer thought it was wireless-only.
How much paper does the tray hold?
60 sheets in, 25 sheets out.
DeskJet 2752e quirks worth knowing
- The same 2700e hardware is sold as the 2723e, 2742e, 2752e and 2755e. RTINGS covers all four in one review, and the cartridges, drivers and fixes are shared.
- Versions sold outside North America take HP 305 cartridges instead of HP 67. A U.S. printer needs North American HP 67.
- HP rates it for up to 1,000 pages a month but recommends 50–100. Treat it as a light-use home printer.
- The "fax" is send-only mobile fax from your phone through the HP Smart app. The printer has no fax modem.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my HP DeskJet 2752e reject compatible cartridges?
One of two reasons. Either HP+ was activated during setup, which locks the printer to Original HP cartridges for life, or the cartridge has a non-HP chip, which HP dynamic security blocks whether or not HP+ is on. On a printer not enrolled in HP+, remanufactured cartridges that keep the original HP chip, like ours, are the ones that work.
Does using remanufactured cartridges void my warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, HP cannot void your printer warranty only because you used compatible or remanufactured cartridges. HP+ is a separate restriction you agree to during setup.
How are these page yields measured?
They are approximate figures based on HP's ISO/IEC 24711 testing. Real results depend on what and how often you print.
