What Toner Cartridge Does It Use?
This is the part worth getting right before you buy: the 4006 and 4007 use different, region-specific toner cartridges, and they are not interchangeable. The HP LaserJet Pro 4006, sold in North America and Canada, takes the HP 161A standard-yield cartridge (W1610A) or the 161X high-yield version (W1610X). The HP LaserJet Pro 4007, sold in Europe, takes the HP 162A standard-yield cartridge (W1620A) or the 162X high-yield version (W1620X). If you're not sure which one you have, check HP's official supplies page for the 4006/4007/4008 series, or look at the model label printed inside the front cover.
Is It Worth Buying?
Since these are newer models, expect a premium price compared to older M400-series stock while it's still available. If your priority is print speed and volume for a busy office, the 4000 series is a solid step up. Budget buyers who don't need the faster engine may still be well served by the older, cheaper M400 series.

As of this writing, the 4006 and 4007 are new enough that they're sold directly through HP rather than being listed on Amazon yet. If you want a comparable printer you can buy today, the outgoing HP LaserJet Pro 4001dn (check price on Amazon) is a solid, cheaper alternative while the new series rolls out more broadly. Note it uses a different toner cartridge (HP 148A/148X) than the 4006/4007, so always check your specific model's label before ordering supplies.
