What Ink Does the HP Photosmart 2610 Use?
Last Updated:Quick answer: The HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one uses two cartridges: an HP 94 black and an HP 95 tri-color. The high-capacity HP 96 black and HP 97 tri-color fit the same slots. For photos you can swap the black for an HP 99 photo or HP 100 gray photo cartridge. Yes. On October 16, 2026, 4inkjets listed HP's 96 black at $52.99 (about 6.2¢ a page) and the 97 tri-color at $84.99 (about 15.2¢ a page), both backordered. The smaller 94 black was $53.45 and the 95 tri-color $75.99, so the 96 and 97 are the better buys. How Do I Replace the Ink in the HP Photosmart 2610?
- With the printer on, lift the print-cartridge access door. Wait for the carriage to move to the center.
- Push down on the old cartridge to release it and pull it out. Tri-color goes in the left stall; black, photo or gray in the right.
- Pull the plastic tape off the new cartridge, holding it by the sides. Don't touch the copper contacts or nozzles.
- Slide the cartridge into its stall and push it forward until it snaps into place.
- Close the door. When the screen asks, print the alignment page and finish the alignment.

No. HP's answer on its store says the 2610xi takes HP 94, 95, 96 and 97, not the 98. Return it and get a 94 or 96.
Does the 2610 have Wi-Fi?
No. It has USB and built-in Ethernet. Wi-Fi came on the Photosmart 2710.
What is the HP 100 gray cartridge for?
It replaces the black cartridge for better gray tones in black-and-white photos. The HP 99 photo cartridge does the same job for color photos.

Make sure the tape is off, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and in the carriage, and reseat it firmly. Photo and gray cartridges must go in the right-hand black stall.
