What Ink Does the HP DeskJet 2755 Use?

Quick answer: The HP DeskJet 2755 uses HP 67 ink: HP 67 Black (3YM56AN, about 120 pages) and HP 67 Tri-Color (3YM55AN, about 100 pages), or the high-yield HP 67XL Black (3YM57AN, about 240 pages) and 67XL Tri-Color (3YM58AN, about 200 pages).

This is the plain DeskJet 2755, without HP+. Its twin, the DeskJet 2755e, has the same hardware but adds HP+, which can lock it to Original HP ink. HP's page for the 2755 also lists 67XXL cartridges, but we found no U.S. retailer selling them, so plan on 67XL. Castle Ink sells remanufactured 67XL cartridges for it.

What Ink Does the HP DeskJet 2755 Take?

Cartridge HP part no. Approx. yield Castle Ink option
HP 67 Black 3YM56AN ~120 pages Amazon
HP 67 Tri-Color 3YM55AN ~100 pages Amazon
HP 67XL Black (high yield) 3YM57AN ~240 pages Castle Ink 67XL Black, $32.95
HP 67XL Tri-Color (high yield) 3YM58AN ~200 pages Castle Ink 67XL Tri-Color, $34.95
HP 67XL Black + Tri-Color pack 3YM57AN / 3YM58AN ~240 / ~200 pages Castle Ink 67XL 2-pack, $59.95

Yields are HP's ISO figures. HP's 2755 page also names a 67XXL Black (3YM59AN, about 400 pages) and 67XXL Tri-Color (6ZA16AN, about 330 pages); the 2755e page does not, and Staples, Quill and Best Buy don't stock them. The printer ships with HP 67 setup cartridges.

What Does HP 67XL Cost per Page?

On October 26, 2026, Staples and Best Buy listed the Original HP 67XL Black at $35.89, and Staples had the 67XL Tri-Color at $36.89. That works out to about 15¢ a page for black and 18¢ for color. Our remanufactured 67XL Black is $32.95 and 67XL Tri-Color $34.95, or $59.95 for the pair. The standard HP 67 cartridges hold about half as much ink, so the XL is the better buy unless you print only a few pages a month.

Will Remanufactured HP 67XL Work in the DeskJet 2755?

Yes. HP's 2755 page says the printer works with cartridges that have a new or reused HP chip and blocks modified or non-HP circuitry. Remanufactured cartridges reuse the HP chip. A firmware update can still block cartridges that worked before, so consider turning off automatic updates. There's no HP+ requirement on the non-e 2755. More in our guide to HP cartridge errors and dynamic security.

How Do I Replace the Ink in the HP DeskJet 2755?

  1. Turn the printer on; the carriage only moves to the access position when it has power.
  2. Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  3. Press down on the cartridge to release it, then pull it out toward you.
  4. Unwrap the new cartridge and pull off the plastic tape by its tab, without touching the copper contacts or the ink nozzles.
  5. Slide the cartridge into its slot (tri-color on the left, black on the right) and push until it snaps in.
  6. Close the door and let the printer print or scan its alignment page if it asks.

Which Other Printers Use HP 67?

Staples and Quill list HP 67 and 67XL for the HP DeskJet 2700 and 2800 series (including the 2755 and 2755e), the DeskJet 4100 and 4200 series, the DeskJet Plus 4100 series, the ENVY 6000 and 6400 series (including the 6052, 6055, 6452e and 6455e) and the ENVY Pro 6420, 6452, 6455 and 6458. The newer ENVY 6100e and 6500e printers use HP 68 instead, so check the number before you buy.

What DeskJet 2755 owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer on retailer Q&A pages, manufacturer support communities and owner reviews, answered in our words.

Does the DeskJet 2755 have a USB port?

Yes. HP lists one Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port (cable not included) as well as Wi-Fi, despite some reviews claiming it's wireless-only.

Can it print two-sided automatically?

No. Two-sided printing is manual; the driver tells you when to flip the pages.

Does it take HP 67XXL?

HP's 2755 page lists 67XXL, but no major U.S. retailer stocks it, so most owners buy 67XL.

The ink light blinks after I changed a cartridge. What now?

HP's moderators suggest clearing any jam, reseating the cartridge until it clicks, wiping the contacts with a lint-free damp cloth, and power-cycling for 60 seconds.

Is the 2755 the same as the 2755e?

Same hardware. The 2755e adds HP+, which, if accepted at setup, requires Original HP ink for the life of the printer.

DeskJet 2755 quirks worth knowing

  • It's a basic model: 60-sheet tray, manual two-sided printing and an icon-only display.

  • There's no borderless photo printing, per Tom's Guide's 2755e review.
  • HP lists Bluetooth on the 2755 for printing from a phone, alongside dual-band Wi-Fi.
