What Ink Does the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e Use?

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e uses HP 910 and HP 910XL ink cartridges in black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. HP rates the high-yield 910XL at about 720 pages for black and about 700 pages for each color, roughly two to three times a standard 910.

How to Replace Ink in the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e

1. Power on the printer and open the front cartridge access door — the carriage will slide to the center.
2. Press down gently on the empty cartridge and pull it straight out toward you.
3. Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and pull the orange plastic tab to remove the protective tape. Do not touch the gold contacts or ink nozzles.
4. Slide the new cartridge into its color-coded slot until it clicks firmly into place.
5. Close the access door. The printer will automatically align the new cartridge and may print a calibration page.

Troubleshooting Tips

Cartridge not recognized: Remove the cartridge, gently wipe the gold contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinsert it firmly. Restart the printer if the error persists.

Streaks or faded prints: Run the built-in print head cleaning utility from HP Smart or the printer's touchscreen (Setup → Tools → Clean Printhead). One or two cycles usually clears clogged nozzles.

"Used or counterfeit" or cartridge-problem messages: The 8025e is an HP dynamic-security printer. HP says it is only intended for cartridges with an original HP chip, and cartridges with other chips may be rejected now or after a later update. This is not always a warning you can click past. Remanufactured cartridges that keep the original HP chip are the safer choice. If you turned on HP+ at setup, only Original HP cartridges will work.

It marks the HP+ version. HP+ is offered during setup; if you accept it, the printer needs an HP account, an internet connection and Original HP ink for the rest of its life, and it can't be undone, even with a factory reset.
