What Does M276nw Toner Cost per Page?

On October 27, 2026, Staples listed HP's 131X black at $133.99 and each 131A color at $132.99: about 5.6¢ a page for black and 7.4¢ per color. Our compatible 131X black is $54.95 (about 2.3¢ a page) and our 131A colors are $48.95 each (about 2.7¢ a page).

Will Compatible Toner Work?

Yes. We know of no cartridge lock on this model. The HP firmware updates that rejected third-party cartridges were reported on newer OfficeJet, OfficeJet Pro and PageWide printers, and this printer is older than that change. HP's warranty doesn't cover damage caused by non-HP supplies, but using them doesn't void it.

How Do I Replace the Toner in the M276nw?

  1. Turn the printer on and open the front door (on some models the cartridges sit in a pull-out drawer behind it).
  2. Take out the cartridge for the color that's empty. The slots are color-coded.
  3. Unpack the new cartridge and rock it gently side to side to spread the toner.
  4. Pull off the orange sealing tape and any protective cover, without touching the green drum surface.
  5. Slide the cartridge into its matching slot until it seats, then close the door.

These are the standard steps for this type of printer. If your model's door label shows a different order, follow the label.

Which Other Printers Use HP 131A Toner?

The LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276n uses the same 131A and 131X cartridges. 4inkjets also lists the LaserJet Pro 200 Color M251n and M251nw.

What M276nw owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer on retailer Q&A pages, manufacturer support communities and owner reviews, answered in our words.

Is there a high-yield color cartridge?

No. Only the black comes in a high-yield version (131X, about 2,400 pages). The colors come only as 131A, at about 1,800 pages each.

Does the M276nw print double-sided automatically?

No. Two-sided printing is manual, with the driver telling you when to flip the pages.

Yes. Both use the 131A and 131X family.

What do error 50.2 and 50.4 mean?
