Which Brother ink cartridge does my printer use?

The LC number is printed on your old cartridge and inside the ink cover. You can also find your printer in the finder table above: LC3013 fits the MFC-J491DW, J497DW and J690DW; LC3033 fits the INKvestment Tank MFC-J805DW and J995DW; LC401XL fits the MFC-J1010DW and J1170DW. For other models, use Find Ink by Printer.

Standard or high-yield: which is cheaper per page?

High-yield. Brother sells most families in more than one size, and the larger cartridges fit the same printers. An LC3011 black (standard) is rated for about 200 pages; the LC3013 black (high-yield) for 400. Super high-yield INKvestment cartridges such as LC3033 and LC3037 go further, at about 3,000 black pages.

Remanufactured vs. original Brother ink

A remanufactured cartridge reuses a genuine Brother shell. It is cleaned, refilled with new ink and tested before it ships. Brother inkjet printheads are built into the printer, so the cartridge is simply an ink reservoir, which makes remanufactured Brother ink one of the most dependable ways to save.

Brother Ink FAQs

Will remanufactured ink work in my Brother printer?

Yes. Brother inkjet printers accept remanufactured cartridges. Install them the same way as the originals; if the printer asks whether you replaced the cartridge, answer Yes so the ink counter resets.

Which cartridges fit Brother INKvestment Tank printers?

INKvestment Tank models use super high-yield cartridges: LC3033 and LC3035 for the MFC-J805DW, J815DW XL and J995DW, and LC3037 and LC3039 for the MFC-J5845DW, J5945DW, J6545DW and J6945DW.

What does "Cannot Detect" mean on my Brother printer?

The printer can't read the cartridge. Remove it, check that the orange protective cap and any tape are off, then push it in firmly until it locks. If the message stays, contact us and we'll replace the cartridge.

Will using remanufactured ink void my Brother warranty?

No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Brother cannot void your printer warranty just because you used third-party ink.
