Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the front cover (or toner drawer on color models), remove the empty cartridge, then rock the new one gently five or six times to spread the toner. Pull the sealing tape straight out, insert the cartridge until it locks and close the cover.

Messages: the printer may display a notice that a non-Canon cartridge is installed or that the remaining toner can't be shown. Confirm the message to keep printing. The imaging drum is built into this cartridge, so there is no separate drum to replace.

Streaks or faint print: rock the cartridge again and run the cleaning or fixing-unit cleaning routine from the printer's menu.
