How is the MF217w different from the MF212w and MF216n?

It's the fax model: the MF212w is Wi-Fi without fax, the MF216n is Ethernet without Wi-Fi, and the MF217w has Wi-Fi, a 35-sheet feeder and fax. All use Canon 137.

Does it print two-sided?

No; the MF220 series added duplex. Flip the stack manually or use the driver's manual duplex option.

Why does it drop off Wi-Fi?

The MF210 series' most common complaint. Reserve a fixed IP address for it on the router; there is no Ethernet port.
