How to Print from Canva: Settings for Perfect Prints at Home

Quick answer: Canva can't send a design straight to your home printer, so you download it first and then print the file. Click Share (top right), then Download, and set the file type to PDF Print. • Canva's templates (Flyer, Invitation, Poster) come in the right size already. Just check the dimensions under Resize before you start.

Step 2: Turn On Print Bleed and Margins (If Anything Touches the Edge)

If your background color or photo is meant to run right to the edge of the paper, you need bleed. That's a little extra image past the trim line, so there's no white sliver if your cut is slightly off. In Canva, open the File menu, go to View settings (older versions call it Settings), and turn on Show print bleed and Show margins. Then stretch any edge-to-edge background out to the outer dotted line.

A reality check: most home inkjets can't print all the way to the edge of a sheet. They leave a small white border unless the printer supports borderless printing on that paper size. Step 3: Download as PDF Print

1. Click Share, then Download.
2. Under File type, choose PDF Print. It's high resolution and keeps text as sharp vector shapes.
3. Crop marks and bleed: tick this if you'll trim the piece. Leave it off if you're printing a full letter page that doesn't need cutting.
4. Flatten PDF: leave it off unless fonts or transparent elements print incorrectly. Flattening fixes those problems but makes text slightly less crisp.
5. Color profile: if you have Canva Pro you'll see RGB and CMYK. For a home inkjet or laser, choose RGB. Home printer drivers expect RGB and do their own conversion to ink. CMYK is meant for sending files to a commercial print shop.
6. Choose which pages to download, then click Download.

• Scale / Page sizing: Actual size or 100%. "Fit" or "Shrink oversized pages" will scale your design down, which throws off anything that has to fit an envelope or a frame.
• Paper size: whatever is physically in the tray.

How to Print Multiple Canva Designs on One Page

Canva doesn't lay out several small designs on one sheet for you, and that's the question we hear most from people printing business cards, place cards, tags and labels. You have two good options:

1. Build the sheet in Canva (most accurate). Create an 8.5 x 11 in design, add your finished card as a group, then duplicate it and snap the copies into a grid. Canva's rulers and guides (File > View settings > Show rulers and guides) make this quick. Standard business cards fit 10 to a letter sheet.
2. Use Acrobat Reader's "Multiple" setting (fastest). In the print window choose Multiple under Page Sizing and set, say, 2 x 2. It's quick, but it scales each page, so the finished size won't be exact. Fine for drafts, not for cards that must be 3.5 x 2.

Why Your Canva Print Looks Different from the Screen

Your screen makes color by shining light at you. Your printer makes color with ink that sits on paper and reflects light. Very bright greens, electric blues, hot pinks and neon oranges fall outside what cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink can produce, so they come out duller. A few ways to narrow the gap:
