The HP OfficeJet 4632 uses HP 61 black and HP 61 tri-color ink cartridges, and also takes higher-yield HP 61XL cartridges. In July 2026 HP replaced the 61XL pair with a new HP 61 High Yield Black (about 360 pages) and a single HP 61 Tri-color (about 200 pages).
2026 change: In July 2026 HP refreshed the HP 61 line. The 61XL Black and 61XL Tri-color are now end of life, replaced by a new HP 61 High Yield Black (C0PA4AN, about 360 pages) and a single new HP 61 Tri-color (C0PA5AN, about 200 pages). There is no longer an XL tri-color. HP says the updated cartridges work in the same printers, with no new hardware or settings needed. Older HP 61 and 61XL cartridges still work in the OfficeJet 4632.

How to Replace Ink in the HP OfficeJet 4632
- Power on the printer and open the cartridge access door — the carriage will slide to the center.
- Press down on the empty cartridge and pull it forward out of its slot.
- Unbox the new cartridge and peel the protective tape from the nozzles.
- Slide the cartridge into its color-coded slot and push up until you hear a click.
- Close the access door and let the printer print an alignment page.
Troubleshooting Tips
Cartridge not recognized. Remove the cartridge, wipe the copper contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinstall firmly.
Streaky prints. Run the cartridge cleaning tool from the printer's control panel or HP's software. One or two cycles usually clears minor clogs.
Fax setup issues. The OfficeJet 4632 is a 4-in-1 (print/scan/copy/fax). Confirm an RJ-11 phone line is connected to the LINE port and the fax country/region is set correctly.
ADF feeding crooked. Re-square the document guides snugly against the originals and don't exceed 35 sheets in the ADF.

Is the OfficeJet 4632 a different machine from the 4630?
No. It's a model in HP's OfficeJet 4630 e-All-in-One series (product numbers B4L05A and B4L06B), with the same specs and, in North America, the same HP 61 cartridges.
I bought my 4632 abroad. Does it still take HP 61?
Maybe not. The 4630 series is region-coded: HP 61 in North America and parts of Asia Pacific, HP 301 in Western Europe, and HP 122, 662, 678, 650 or 802 elsewhere. Check the number on the cartridge that came with it.
Can I print from an iPhone?
Yes. HP lists AirPrint, HP ePrint and wireless direct printing for the 4630 series.
